I caught these two shots shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 19th, 2010.
The shot was taken facing east and looking directly at the burned and eroding slopes of the La Canada Flintridge-based Paradise Canyon community. While the sun had briefly come out and the light showers created a fantastic rainbow viewing experience, the irony of these shots are that the homes located at the base of that same hill were and still are being evacuated due to the mudflows and water runoff coming from the approximately 4.5 inches of rain that has fallen in the last 48 hours. With another 8 to 10 inches of rain expected in the coming 48 hours, the chance for significant mudslides appear almost imminent.
